Questions you may have to answer during a job interview
Questions about College
1. What courses in college
did you like most? Least? Why?
I liked accounting courses,
statistics and operations management. The reason is that those courses
combined, prepares the students and potential managers to measure results in
the strategic planning and execution of an organization. I didn’t particularly
liked biology courses because I really don’t see how biology is going to help
me be a better manager.
2. Do you think your extracurricular activities in college were worth the
time you spent on them? Why or why not?
I definitely think it was worth my time. It’s part of the college
experience as a whole. Makes me see that I am not just a person that achieved a
goal of attaining a college degree. I enjoyed all aspects of the privilege of
attending college.
3. When did you choose your college major? Did you ever change your major?
If so, why?
I choose my college major after I retired from active duty in the United
States Army. I knew that I had plenty leadership experience and management
skills. It was a perfect fit for me. Once I started I never changed my major.

I held the position of logistics

charge, Surveillance agent, and Property book manager. Reason I left was that I
retired from active duty from the department of defense and relocated to Puerto
Rico.
2. Why did you choose your
particular field of work?
I believe I’m a natural leader. Always liked the challenge of having
responsibilities of problem solving and decision making. I also like to coach,
mentor and train the human resources to help them achieve professional success.
3. Have you served in the military? What rank did you achieve? What jobs
did you perform?

in any specific geographic location? If so, why?
Not necessarily. My previous military experience makes me able to adjust
to any geographic area.
I had to relocate on average once every three or four year. I can adapt
to any place as long as I like the job.
14. What motivates you? Why?
I’m self-motivated, but if something outside of myself help me stay
motivated is my family. I believe good work ethics are taught by example and I
want to be a good example for my children.
15. What do you think
determines a person’s progress in a good organization?
Self-motivation, good work ethics, giving your best effort, a sense of
achievement, loyalty to the organizations mission and vision, and been able to
work alone or as a team.
16. Describe an experience
in which you learned from one of your mistakes.
As a young leader in the military I expected the same dedication,
motivation from my soldiers that I had.
In another words, I expected them to give the same efforts, for the same
reasons, that I was giving. That made me a very strict and hardcore leader. I
was getting results but I knew I was because they feared me. As I got more
experienced I looked for ways to have the same results, but out of respect and
not fear. I loosen in my approach, began coaching, mentoring, training my
soldiers to become better, when they understood that I cared for them, they
lost the fear and learned to respect me. The result is that they gave me the
extra mile all the time.
17. Why do you want this
job?
Because I like the core values of your organization. I read your mission
and vision statements and it makes me want to be part of that. Your company’s
image is excellent and your efforts in the community as you exercise social
responsibility are admirable. I believe this organization will keep expanding
and growing as one of the leading organizations in your field.
18. What have you done that
shows initiative and willingness to work?
I think 23 years in the military
speaks for itself. I think one tour to Kuwait, and one to Iraq shows my
willingness to work under the most stressful circumstances. I was able to be a
great leader because I knew what had to be done, and I did it before anyone
told me it had to be done, and that is initiative.
19. Why should I hire you?
You should hire me because of my experience, my academic preparation, my
ability to work under pressure, my self-motivation and my leadership skills.
You should hire me because I can work alone or as a team, I am responsible and
I can adapt. I can be a great asset to your organization if given the
opportunity.
